Mixed messages

Mimi has really begun to take off with her language. She has gone from babbling to connecting words into a clear idea.
Recently though she has taken a confusing turn. She says up/ down ,open/ shut, yup/ nope. When you aks her a question both of the anwers are given so you don't really know what she prefers.
Paulina will ask " Are you giving me mixed messages?" and Mimi firmly replies Yup/Nope.
We also swear that she still partially speaks Cantonese. One day as Paulina was leaving Mimi stuck her head out the door and yelled out" Ashiyope". We don't speak Cantonese so it is anybody's guess as to if she is speaking it or not. When I put her in bed for her nap she says "Atakai" which sounds like Japanese....one day it will all be sorted out and we will know what she means.
Mimi has also developed a sincere addiction to "The Parent Trap" starring the once adorable Lindsay Lohan. She calls the movie"Annie"(one of the characters names). She watches it at night before bed and her favorite part is when Annie comes home to meet her mother for the first time. The scene has a slow motion hug between the mother and the daughter and Mimi is absolutley transfixed by the scene. She can tell when the scene is coming up and will run to the screen from where ever
she is. So out with pee wee, in with Annie.
